Class 5 Year 1 & 2

Remembrance Day

This week the children in class 5 (years 1 & 2) have been learning about Remembrance Day and why it is a special day.

The children have been learning about the reasons why people wear poppies at this time and why a poppy was chosen as a symbol for Remembrance Day.

They also learned that at 11 o'clock on the 11th day of November we stand silently for one minute, to remember the people who have died serving our country in war and conflicts around the world.

The children wrote about Remembrance Day and they each made a poppy for a wreath that hung up in the classroom.
