May Gardening News ….
During the last couple of months the club members have been extremely busy getting the garden ready for the new season.
We have planted all sorts of vegetables including: peas, beans, lettuce, potatoes, radishes and leeks. Among the fruit plants we have are strawberries, apples and blackcurrants. Even flowers have not been neglected as we experimented with planting sunflowers, sweet peas and wildflower mixes.
Obviously the garden needs a careful eye to protect it, so we have constructed our scarecrows to oversee the whole proceedings. Our final experience this half term is to make rhubarb muffins with the home-grown rhubarb.
Our thanks must go to Mr Nichols and Mrs Clattenburg for all their hard work and support to help make this club such a fun experience.
